Poetry Pairing: A Guitar and a Violin

It’s useless

to quiet it.

It cries

for the distance.

While reading “La Guitarra/The Guitar” in Poem of the Deep Song by Federico Garcia Lorca, translated by Ralph Angel, the song “Violin” by Amos Lee kept playing in my mind.

  1. Pairing songs and poems–very fun and helpful somehow (in framing or forming an understanding of the poem….does that make sense?). I think it’s most often about a connection in mood.

    • I wonder if Amos Lee read Poem of the Deep Song before he wrote Violin…Happy Friday to you, Hannah!
