Poetry Pairing: Making Pies

I’ve been deep in poetry by Sharon Olds and Jane Kenyon since the weekend, and when I encountered Kenyon’s poem “Having it Out with Melancholy,” I could think of no other soundtrack for it than Patty Griffin’s song Making Pies. Here’s your poetry pairing for the week:

Having it Out with Melancholy by Jane Kenyon

Making Pies by Patti Griffin

You could cry or die

Or just make pies all day

I’m making pies

Making pies

Making pies

Making pies

Here’s to making the most of it, Andrea
