Martín Espada’s “Sleeping on the Bus”

I’ve read this poem every day for the past two weeks. I’ve read it to my husband. I’ve shared with with friends. I’ll keep rereading it. We need to keep reading and sharing poems like this.

More on Martín Espada including the text of this poem.

  1. Yep, that is a great poem. Actually both poems he reads in the video are great–the counterweight of minute and potentially mundane details against the larger movements they incrementally fuel–like the Obama pin and the other mementos at Douglas’s tomb and the world “spinning away from the gravity of centuries”… I have not read any Espada but will now.
